This book, the final in the Anarchist Series, encourages you to make the simplest bench possible and then add complexity from there. The Benchcrafted bench uses some bolts for knock down abilities whereas The Anarchist's workbench uses draw bore tenons. Can't find SYP here in AZ so I got over it and figured the workbench I actually have is better than the one I idolize.

"The Anarchist's Workbench" also seeks to open your eyes to simpler workbench designs that eschew metal fasteners and instead rely only on the time-tested mortise-and-tenon joint that's secured with a drawbored peg.


If you have built either of these benches, I'm curious as to your real world experiences with either of these approaches. And to be honest those woods would have made building it more difficult to cut and drill. I'm still deciding on any kind of finish for just some longevity protection.
